Rennsport To Feature in Esports World Cup, Asks For More Community Feedback

As Rennsport continues its gradual rollout now with it in Early Access, its presence in the competitive scene remains as unsurprisingly, it will feature in the Esports World Cup.

Back in the Summer, the third season of the ESL R1 sim racing championship had its on-site finale at the Esports World Cup. The series has been taking place on Rennsport since its inception in February 2023, with strong criticism from the community being laid at its inaccessibility and early state of development in spite of it being used in a publicly-displayed competition.

The game only hit the early access stage on 16 December after having migrated to Open Beta status in July. Its full release is set for 2025. But in any case, just like with the game being in Closed Beta, then Open and now in Early Access, the platform's reliance on its presence in esports is still ever apparent.

As far as the Esports World Cup goes, not much info has emerged. Expect all the teams that competed this year for the most part to remain, such as big player organisations both within sim racing (Redline, Apex, Coanda, Williams, R8G) and for more mainstream forms of competitive gaming (FaZe Clan, Guild, MOUZ) to be involved.

Early Access: Claim Cars For Free

Meanwhile, for those who have Rennsport downloaded, it is possible right now to test three cars which will change on a monthly rotation, these cars being the Audi R8 LMS GT4, Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) and BMW M Hybrid V8. Of course, these will change in January.

Additionally, Competition Company are encouraging all kinds of feedback and criticism. They are looking into all avenues such as interface flow, visual inconsistencies and of course, the driving experience. "We have many things left to do, and we will be working tirelessly to make RENNSPORT as good as we can over 2025 and beyond", promises Creative Director Kim Orremark.

Ups, thanks, Luca - reminded me that I subscribed very early to be a tester, on the waiting list as tester for the closed beta, and recieved beta tester key as of...just checked... November 24th 2022! Haven't had just a single pit out yet, though more email reminders from the team. So embarassing. Better get going soon :D

Hang on, you got a key back in 2022 and never redeemed it?! Oh no..

The free cars are only for testing purposes, not for claim as free car. It’s only leaderboard SR and RR who was wiped; the garage didn’t move from Beta phase! Still have the same eVIN and usage of the car owned, still got all my badges.

Where is the 3rd party telemetry api? Even Project Cars 2 had a telemetry api.

Are set ups part of this title?

A racing game without set ups is a bit too much like ACC lite...

They went and bought that lovely physics engine... What a shame it would be if it was locked up behind fixed set ups...

I don't understand all the negativity around rennsport.

The bmw m2 cs is represented in acc, rf2, iracing and now in rennsport. In my opinion the rennsport one is the best. Their driving model is very natural and the feeling of the tires is really good. And their tracks are very beautiful and all free. I can't stop driving that m2.

As I said in another thread rennsport is or will be very special.

I honestly think that Rennsport still has a lot to improve in a lot of places. UI, physics, you name it, but we have so many racing sims out there with very similar issues, yet Rennsport gets a lot of negativity in comparison.
Sure, no car setups is quite a miss to have in a racing sim but so many games run fixed setups in their most popular online races so I don't think it's that bad for now. They should try to get AI and setups before a full release though, otherwise the little interest there is will be even lower by the time that happens.

I understand why there's so much negativity around this game. I think it mostly comes down to it being in a closed beta for so long, people heard the name, saw the races but couldn't actually get their hands on it.
Add the past ties to NFTs (which are thankfully gone it seems), no information on how the game would be ran, no dates for public releases, strange e-sports practices, etc... There was this air of uncertainty around the game, people got tired and just learned to ignore it, and rightfully so.

It also doesn't help that now that the game is open to the public it still feels very rough and not far from the stuff we've seen years ago. Even though it gets updated fairly often the updates are far too small for a game that should be this deep into development.
Most updates give us 1 new car, maybe a track, a change to tyre physics which doesn't really feel that different in the grand scheme of things, and that's about it. The Early Access update brought a new UI finally, but at the cost of needing to buy the cars, a "battle pass", and the only new content we got was a rather uninteresting cup car.
Also, VR got pulled for now because they weren't happy with it and triple screen support is still not a thing and the people who like this stuff are very vocal about it.

I like Rennsport, but in this saturated market I admit that it doesn't really have what it takes to compete against the well established sims we have on PC.
I think their best bet is a console release, especially if they plan on keeping this F2P model with a "battle pass" and currency packs. This is much closer to how F2P, and even some paid, console games work and people there are more willing to buy these things.
Plus, the market for racing sims on console is much smaller. With only ACC, F1 and GT/Forza being the only options, Rennsport can actually have a compelling offer there especially with being F2P.

I want to see this game succeed, but it's been very hard to stay hopeful.

I'd say the focus id to get it on console and be an arcade game for 9 year olds, ergo the real sim stuff, vr, head tracking, triple screens wont feature as they dont work on console.

You are kidding, right?

First, you don‘t understand 'all the negativity'. And to top even that, you say - testing the M2 - that Rennsport has benchmark physics?

Man I know, don‘t feed the troll but thats two points you just cannot be serious about. Maybe a Rennsport marketing guy here sneaking in & trying to fix this comment section.

Happy Holidays!

I don't understand all the negativity around rennsport.

It's easy to hate the new kid on the block when the new kid looks like the weird wannabe on the Unreal engine...

But that's the crux of it... The Unreal engine is seen by many as being unfit for sim racing, the whole Project Farming Simulator farce where they've gone from one engine that isn't proven to be good for fast AI to another engine that hasn't even had tractor speed officially supported is the tip of the iceberg... ACC for years hasn't been derided as only better than the pCARS series in terms of physics accuracy... Has been poor for VR, and has had a host of other problems... But for the gaming side of what happens in a race, it was an improvement over AC...

I do agree Rennsport drives pretty good for the level it's at, it has always felt like it needs to be further along than it is... I think in a few years it has a chance to be a special sim to a lot of people... All that matters is that you've got a smile on your face at the end... I do wish they'd open up the set ups though...

Lets not forget he also said this

For now if you are a serious simracer there is rf2 and lmu.

I am watching closely rennsport and pista.

So clearly a troll

I have been interested in Rennsport, as in any other simulations.
I have tried to stay neutral and not comment negatively.
I have launched the game many times during the beta test, and found it interesting in many aspects.

But now, with the release of the early access, i discover that the economical model is something like fortnite or some other games.
Some kind of pay per win .
We need to purchase the carspresent for free during the beta, etc... Not for me 5I could have accepted to pay for new content of course)
I have decided to desinstall this game from my ssd.

Good luck Rennsport, with professional simracers or other simracers as me.
I have enough to concentrate on at the moment.

Please Wil, stop with that troll thing. It is ridiculous.

Spent the morning retesting the four sims with the bmw m2. Rennsport is the best.

Their driving model is the more natural and the most correct in my opinion and so it is the most enjoyable. I repeat I can't stop driving that m2 (in the most beautiful tracks ever made in a sim).

There is one big problem though. The title is not well optimized for the moment.

And for the definition of natural driving here it is. A sim has a natural driving if you are not constantly asking yourself if you are driving a race car or not. You just drive.
