As Rennsport continues its gradual rollout now with it in Early Access, its presence in the competitive scene remains as unsurprisingly, it will feature in the Esports World Cup.
Back in the Summer, the third season of the ESL R1 sim racing championship had its on-site finale at the Esports World Cup. The series has been taking place on Rennsport since its inception in February 2023, with strong criticism from the community being laid at its inaccessibility and early state of development in spite of it being used in a publicly-displayed competition.
The game only hit the early access stage on 16 December after having migrated to Open Beta status in July. Its full release is set for 2025. But in any case, just like with the game being in Closed Beta, then Open and now in Early Access, the platform's reliance on its presence in esports is still ever apparent.
As far as the Esports World Cup goes, not much info has emerged. Expect all the teams that competed this year for the most part to remain, such as big player organisations both within sim racing (Redline, Apex, Coanda, Williams, R8G) and for more mainstream forms of competitive gaming (FaZe Clan, Guild, MOUZ) to be involved.
Additionally, Competition Company are encouraging all kinds of feedback and criticism. They are looking into all avenues such as interface flow, visual inconsistencies and of course, the driving experience. "We have many things left to do, and we will be working tirelessly to make RENNSPORT as good as we can over 2025 and beyond", promises Creative Director Kim Orremark.
