WATCH: 5 Assetto Corsa EVO Details We Recently Learned

With the slew of Assetto Corsa EVO news that emerged recently, it might be hard to keep track. Check out our video for a compact summary!

The sim racing scene seemingly cannot wait for Assetto Corsa EVO to hit Early Access on January 16, as the enormous amount of questions ahead of our live stream with Kunos Simulazioni's Co-Founder and Managing Director Marco Massarutto showed. We learned plenty of new things from Marco, but there was more, of course.

You may or may not have seen articles on what's new on our website recently, but for all those who want a more condensed way of catching up, @Michel Wolk has assembled the five most important new facts that we learned about Assetto Corsa EVO in video form.

Features, cars, a lot of open world talk, and addressing the concerns of pure racing potentially taking a back seat in AC EVO are all part of the video, so you should be well taken care of when it comes to more info about arguably the most hotly-anticiapted sim in years.

What are you looking forward to in Assetto Corsa EVO? Let us know in the comments below and join the discussion in our AC EVO forum!

Yes, but:

I did add "in video form" just now, to make the intention more clear.

I don't understand why sim racers are so scared if a game gets game stuff added to it. This mentality of making a game more like a game = less realistic physics needs to stop because its founded in silly and outdated ideologies.

The first thing was obviously the comparison with Forza, and how Forza Horizon is considered by the majority of the sim racing community one of satan's spawn.
I can understand concerns in regards to it being a mandatory part of the game, which is fair because many people won't have time to "play a game" and just want to pick a car and get on the track without anything in the middle, but when people think that having some extra gameplay in a game will make the driving physics unrealistic or "made for gamepad, therefore made for 9 year olds", it just makes me sigh...

I hope AC Evo can finally bring everyone together, sim racers and casual racing game players. Modern arcade racers are so drab and most of them have really bad and unintuitive driving which in some cases makes it harder to drive than a realistic simulator.
Maybe this is what will make NFS, The Crew, or whatever other arcady racing games, go back to more realistic physics like what we had in the early 2000s, just with a touch of simplicity so the cars are less likely to misbehave. The reason I started playing simulators recently is because I found out they're just more enjoyable than arcade games, even on a pad.

I hope Kunos can realize all the plans they have for this game and we see it reach its max potential. It has the ability change the whole racing game landscape for the better.

THE questioned still unanswered:

Can i race whatever supplied car i want on whatever supplied tracks i want with however many AI cars and classes I want with whatever reasonabke conditions i want whenevr i want while offline?
Haven't they said multiple times that you can pick any car you want, any track you want and race ignoring career and free roam?

AI bots for online races to fill grids? That'd be my #1 question. My racing group, made of family, is small (4-6 players). Though we like AC and ACC, AMS2 online AI fills out the grid and adds a fun and sometimes frustrating dimension to our races. ACE adds this option = amazing.

I have something like 60.000km on AC. I enjoy doing championships, fun events, etc. (NoHesi is not my cup of tea), but many of the best moments I had playing were on FH4; Wreckfest feels great both with a controller and a DD.

It's a shame arcades are viewed as Absolute Evil because a great arcade can be one of the best driving game experiences to be had.

Too many car series, low number of Racing cars, same old tracks seen on Ac1 like Brands Hatch or Imola, and now more road than circuits¿? People are buying great wheels (from 500€ and more) better pedals (400€ or more) VR, etc and all i can do is walking my grandmother on a vulgar car? wrong way for Simracers, we just searching more realism on racing events not another GT for 7-10 boys, sorry but the idea is ugly for me, i enjoy racing games like LMU, ACC or AMS2...so please add TCR cars on ACC and some GT4 like Supra or Mustang and we forget this "Forza" copy, i hope Kunos forget this crazy idea and come back to Race. Real drivers like Verstappen uses Iracing, other like Soucek ACC, but never seen Alonso driving a GT walking the dog, Sorry i hope be wrong but every new teaser makes me cry more, and makes me loves more ACC

Arcades, simcades and casual motorsports titles aren't evil... They're just not sim racing games... They don't simulate... They stimulate... Vast difference...

I am surprised to see how there are people who still do not understand that Kunos seeks to do something different from others and try to evolve the genre.

Instead of doing the usual thing and playing it safe, they prefer to take a risk with something that has never been done and has great potential (there are a lot of people, but a lot of people who have been waiting for years to see something like GT or TDU but with the physics of a simulator and VR)

If you like LMU, ACC, AM2 or Iracing, then just keep playing those games, they are not going to disappear because of the release of EVO.

How has it not been done?

I don't see much difference between the next Forza Horizon and what this will be on release with it's street car heavy focus... Forza has a multipoint tyre in it now... It's not like the physics behind Forza hasn't been upgraded like we expect the physics of the AC engine to be as well...

The physics descriptions from all who tested matched those expectations as well... With many of Kunos' Infomercial hosts using the same descriptors as they did for AMS2 1.5 which they derided for being too easy to drive...

If you like LMU, ACC, AM2 or Iracing, then just keep playing those games, they are not going to disappear because of the release of EVO.

This however I completely agree with... Due to the nature of the different markets they are aiming at...

Sure there is some cross over, but just like there are drifters only who never do a circuit race in their lives, there are those who see this and go? "What type of racing is that simulating?"

Waiting for years to see GT, Forza or TDU? how old are u? 12-13 years old? those kind of games are for children, we want a simulator for real race cars in different tracks, that´s why sites and systems like WSS or LFM have success, and Moza, Fanatec, Thrustmaster pay for having their products there, u cannot see people selling gamepads there. Maybe the idea on single player could be for other kind of people, sure younger, but not for adult that enjoy seeing real races, and dreaming on drive that iconic race cars. Everyday more people have better pedals, wheels, shifter, VR glasses for enjoy an inmersive racing experience, not for this idea, what the most amazing is going a fuel station to wash your car. I hope be wrong and this part of the game will be just single player game cause if it just another GT, i not spend a second playing. We saw "great ideas" in the past from other enterprises.....ironic mode on

I'm not sure what your gripe is, but a 12 or 13 year old's £29.99 39.99 or whatever is just as good as yours, and if they play their game with a game pad... well I guess that's up to them too, and, sometimes even 'elitist' racers like to do something different to that 'grind' of their racing lives, fun is where you see it and if it ain't fun for you then you don't need to do it, or even concern yourself with it!

Forza Horizon is still an arcade game, it's completely different approach lol

I'm 30 years old and I've been playing car games since I was 2-3 years old and LFM and others may be successful but it has been proven that things like Shutoko or open world things with economy systems and things to do are even more successful.

When Kunos has focused somewhat on all this it is because it is what they have seen is most popular.

I still think that if both of you don't like what you see, just look away, you can still play the rest of the racing simulators on the market without problem.

What about the damage model, if there is one?

It's already been touched upon in the Overtake Kunos interview Matt. It won't come out of early access until Sept/Oct '25, so keep that in mind. If you're interested in what EVO will be (with yet more info on the way) then try to get yourself up to speed with the wealth of material that's been created here if you can. I guess you have many more questions, which could likely get answered at the same time.

It also sounds like other Q&A sessions may be planned if at all possible, as Michel just wasn't able to raise every question of course. Plus, Kunos don't want to release all the info all at one, which is normal too. It's awesome EVO content by the way. There aren't answers to everything of course. There never was going to be. For many peeps (me included) there's enough info to justify day-one purchase for early access. Kunos has put quite a lot of info out there, and Marco will share more details soon. So far the Kunos updates are almost at the same level as Polyphony for GT7, commendable for a tiny studio.
