Sim racers looking to expand their Fanatec hardware lineup get a nice surprise to end 2024: For many complete steering wheels, Fanatec now throws in a free wheel-side QR2.
With the introduction of the QR2 quick release system, Fanatec made life for sim racers who use multiple wheels within their ecosystem much easier. However, when ordering a new wheel or bundle, it was still the QR1 that came for free, so if you had already upgraded your wheel base to QR2, you had to bite the bullet and pay extra for a wheel-side QR2 as well.
This is not the case anymore: The majority of steering wheels now come with a QR2 for free. This means you can easily save about €100 on your order compared to how it worked previously when opting for the normal QR2, so not the Lite or Pro version.
Currently, the QR2 Wheel-Side can be had for €80 / $80 / AU$120 / ¥12,500, and the QR2 Base-Side (Type-C) now costs €60 / $60 / AU$90 / ¥9,500. While this makes upgrading both your base and one wheel not a necessarily cheap option, it does make it a bit easier on the wallet. If you have already done the upgrade but considered a new wheel, now might be the time to pull the trigger, though.
Should you be inclined to do so, we would very much appreciate it if you would consider using our affiliate link to Fanatec for this. We make a small commission on each sale made using this link, without any extra costs for you. And with that, you support your favorite sim racing community, so that we can keep hosting all the downloads you need and post all the news, reviews, features and more.

Separate QR2 Discounts
At the same time, both base-side and wheel-side QR2 elements are now cheaper as separate products as well - at least for a limited time, the end of which Fanatec does not explicitly state - but "special pricing for the holidays" in the manufacturer's latest blog post implies that the discount will end on or around Christmas.Currently, the QR2 Wheel-Side can be had for €80 / $80 / AU$120 / ¥12,500, and the QR2 Base-Side (Type-C) now costs €60 / $60 / AU$90 / ¥9,500.
