In the latest development update, the team behind the mechanical simulator, Automation, have blessed their player base with an early Christmas present in the form of a new Al Rilma Open Alpha announcement.

Bottom End Stress System Improvements

Implementing a new stress system will change the bottom end of your Automation engine builds going forward. These new boundaries are designed to help you engineer your mechanical creations more accurately to precisely the limit of stress before damage occurs. The traffic light-style stress system is still included, but the figures and implementation have changed.

The new stress system is at the bottom end of the engine creation.

One significant change that the development team have been honest about is finally changing the light conrod to be much more realistic. No longer will the part be as strong as its cast iron equivalent. To accompany these changes, the pistons also have rod ratios ready for you to adjust and fine-tune to your heart's content.

Reliability Dependencies System

Many Automation players have been clamouring for the new reliability chart. The fact that players no longer have to guess how reliable certain aspects of their engine builds is reason enough to implement it; however, guesswork has not been entirely removed from the equation.

New reliability chart.

The estimation element of the reliability is now in the form of estimated mileage before the part would theoretically break. You can see an exact figure between 0 and 1 that will signify how likely the part is to break under heavy stress. Automation can be seen as quite an intimidating game with all the mechanical sliders and elements. However, with this new Al Rilma preview getting better and better, 2025 might be the year to try Automation as a new player.

Gran Turismo 7 being able to load in some Automation creations would be quite incredible. It would require a significant level of polish and refinement and optimization to match GT7, but being able to create cars just as the Vision GT cars allow manufacturers to bring their prototypes to VR life, would be such an incredible democratization. Just like racing suit and livery creation has been.

Being able to even create some of the typical hoonigan back yard masterpieces like bar stool race craft and V8 powered couches along with obscenely over powered turbo charged V4s in shifter karts. with wings three times the size of the kart. Move over F1, F Zero is now!

Which game would suit it best, do you think? For me, it would be Assetto Corsa. :)
Assetto Corsa would be perfect because all it's content (mods for tracks, online, free roaming and even the original Kunos content), but I would be glad to have it even if for an older sim as the original rF. Whatever sim it support I would install it.
