Sim Formula Europe 2025 is approaching fast, including its unique competition format. At least one element of the car-track combo is known already - the BAC Mono R, which will also be on site at MECC Maastricht.

Sim racers will not have to wait for long for the first big on-site event in 2025: Sim Formula Europe 2025 awaits at MECC Maastricht from January 16 to 19, and this time, it includes a unique competition format that not only puts community drivers on track with esports professionals, but also offers a completely level playing field. Practice is impossible for anyone, as the car-track combo for the qualifier will be different from that of the final, too!

The platform the competition is going to be run on is not publicly available: @Marcel Offermans' The Last Garage project was available for hands-on testing at 2024's SFE, but for 2025, it is taking on a bigger role, powering the on-site competition. However, the car-track combination that the final is going to use is not yet known - except for the car, portion, that is.

While the circuit that will be in the spotlight will not be announced until the final itself, the car that sim racers will have to master is the BAC Mono R - a car that is firmly in street-legal race car territory. It may not sport the most powerful engine in the world with its 2.5-liter inline-4 that produces 343 bhp, but it does not need to, either - the car itself weighs in at just 555 kg.

A Special BAC Mono R

These are some serious specs that highlight the capabilities of the car. The Mono R was launched in 2019, after the original Mono had debuted in 2011. To make things even cooler, the vehicle that will be at Sim Formula Europe 2025 is not just "a" BAC Mono R: The car that will be in Maastricht is, in fact, the very first BAC Mono R ever produced!

And as if that was not enough for the racing game and car enthusiast, the car is also wrapped in the livery of the FEISAR FX350/400 ship that appears in Wipeout Pulse and Wipeout HD. It will no doubt stand out at SFE 2025 due to its light blue, white and yellow design coupled with the bare carbon of the car's fenders, rear wing and other elements.

If you want to race the virtual version of the BAC Mono R in Maastricht, you could do just that against the pros! Half the grid will consist of community drivers who qualified on-site - so you could be on the big stage and race for your share of the €10,000 prize pool.

Grab Your Tickets Today!

Tickets are available online, and they include multiple options. Single-day tickets for SFE 2025 or a Combi-ticket for single-day access to both Sim Formula Europe and InterClassics, which is happening in parallel at the same venue, are available, as well as 4-day passes for Sim Formula Europe. InterClassics is one of the biggest classic car shows in Europe, and it included some excellent race cars in 2024 as well - so if you are into sim racing, chances are you are going to have a good time at InterClassics, too!

Will you attempt to qualify for the Sim Formula Europe 2025 competition final to race the BAC Mono R against eight professional esports drivers? Let us know in the comments below!

Hopefully this year there will be some direct capture of The Last Garage. I still hold onto hope that a sim could be created by Marcel, and not just a sim engine. I realize that's a slim chance, but I can dream.

Last year I was still exploring my options, but today I can definitely say that I will build a simulation. Title and scope are still being decided, but I definitely intend to get something in your hands in the future.

This is incredible news. Whilst I appreciate the Expo gets the message out there, a complete sim with the level of love you're pouring into this would be a great way to show what is possible. Ready to back it day one regardless!!

It would be great if the track was a original track that no one could have any previous experience on. Truly test the drivers, not just some who might have more familiarity with random currently playable track drawn from a hat.

fantasy, reverse, new configuration. Something that challenges a driver truly. The Race of Champions format is great to see each driver was often facing a new course which is a much more direct way to test driving skill, almost like rally and rallycross, but fine on a single ( or more similar ) surface types. ( concrete, tarmac, patches, etc )

Isnt it too early to announce the car?

Practice will be impossible for anyone, as the competition will be run on a platform that is not available to anyone yet, and the car and track combination will only be revealed once the competition gets underway.
