With Assetto Corsa EVO on the horizon, the flood of news does not ease off. However, a report that it will be the official game of the GT World Challenge turned out to be false.

The week that saw the "one month to go" hurdle for Assetto Corsa EVO's Early Access release cleared also saw a fresh bunch of news and details emerge. Our own live stream with Kunos Simulazioni's Marco Massarutto was jam-packed with new info based on community questions, but there appeared to be even more in a video talk by reputable German gaming outlet GameStar - which turned out to be false.

Gamestar Claims Refuted By Kunos

The platform, one of the biggest of its kind in Germany, published a video talk with their Editor Sören Diederich, who also had the chance to speak with Kunos, including Massarutto. Diederich claimed, among other things, to have been told that AC EVO will be the official game of the GT World Challenge.

This has proven to be incorrect, as Kunos told OverTake - Assetto Corsa EVO will, in fact, NOT be the offical GTWC game.

Apparently, this might have gotten lost in translation, as Massarutto did mention GTWC towards Diederich, but only as an example for themed DLC that matches real-life championships. Meanwhile, another element the GameStar Editor mentioned, namely co-op driving, is also not confirmed, according to the Italian studio.

"Pure" racing will have its place in Assetto Corsa EVO, however, with the open world set around the Nürburgring in the Eifel region inGermany that has taken center stage in recent news being completely optional, as Massarutto repeatedly mentioned in our Q&A live stream.

Racing cars that have been spotted in screenshots and trailers to date include the Ferrari 488 Challenge, Ferrari F40 Competizione, Hyundai Elantra N TCR, Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992), Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II and Mercedes-AMG GT2.

With the excitement leading up to the January 16 Early Access release ramping up, there are still plenty of questions within our community regarding AC EVO - and while we could not answer all of them during the Q&A with Massarutto, we will do our best to get your additional answers.

This all reminds me of Gilda Radner as Emily Litella on Saturday Night Live. As she would so innocently say after ranting about a news headline she misunderstood: "Nevermind"

If this game is the new serious forza horizon, ACC could be the sim for motorsport with more clases forever.
