From the streets and stadiums to deserts, mountains and tropical paradises; this is EXOcars, a VR buggy racing experience based on real driving physics.

EXOcars is a VR-only experience from the small Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality development studio, XOCUS. The game is based on the theme of offroad racing in EXOcars, better known as dune buggies.

EXOcars was due to be released on October 14th and has been delayed to the 14th of November. Despite the delay, there is not a lot of information about the game. The title will have steering wheel compatibility with adaptive suspension, a plethora of dynamic and interesting game modes and the ability to race during the day, or in the dead of night.

With the game being VR only, the audience and the potential player base for the title is significantly smaller than if it were to be released outside of the VR world. However, there are not very many VR-only racing games, especially titles built around simulation physics and fully based on arcade physics.

You can emote whilst racing other drivers online in EXOcars

EXOcars features ramps, drifting and natural obstacles to make the driving experience fresh and different every time you jump into a new race. The simulation physics will be vital to get right with big promises around high graphical fidelity and Suspension dynamics specifically.

Singleplayer and Multiplayer

EXOcars' single-player races pit you against the ghosts of real opponents who are matched to your skill level. This take on the single-player experience is unique, but the problem could arise that the races will begin to feel like time trials, rather than AI races. However, this does allow the player to find their skill level in the game much quicker than a regular AI-based single-player title.

The real-time multiplayer modes let you compete against your friends or in an open-lobby-style multiplayer system. Whether you are a casual driver, or someone who wants to gun for the top ranks, the matchmaking will tailor the experience to your needs. Could this mean there is ranked multiplayer in EXOcars? There is also an optional voice chat function to trash-talk your opponents while you are racing them!

EXOcars Giveaway

In preparation for the release of EXOcars, XOCUS is giving away a plethora of prizes for completing basic tasks. Here at OverTake, we do not have any affiliation with XOCUS. However, if you do not have a VR headset and you want to play EXOcars, this competition could be your ticket to entering the world of EXOcars.

EXOcars circuit list is yet to be announced, however, storm drains and forests feature heavily.

uh....

hmmmm

I've put it on steam wishlist, But it would have to be either pretty cheap, or make a good first impression on release.

Can't imagine a 1050 or a 1060 could run anything in VR unless it was intended to look like a potato.

Looks pretty fun on the surface. Very willing to give it a shot, reminds me of some of the fun arcade racers back in the ps1 and ps2 days. Seems like 2D would be pretty easy for them to integrate, surprising to see it locked to VR only. Hopefully wheel/pedal support isn't just tacked on with little regard for FFB.

this specs are nonsens.
even too low for a 6 to 7 years old Valve or Oculus headset

I think perhaps that's the idea.

Extremely cheap way into VR, first you need a potato PC then you buy a broken or useless headset and rip the front off.

Fire up the PC, start the game and finally Don the headset minus the front lenses. Perfect.

Probably even better than the best headset available today, with this setup you can still see all the onscreen menus and can also use the mouse if you get bored you can even watch the TV.

So you, a human, wrote "The game is based on the theme of offroad racing in EXOcars, better known as dune buggies." OK.
