On 18 December, one of iRacing's most prominent GT3 league communities are hosting a charity event for one of their longest-tenured members who passed away recently.
The RPM European Series is a highly sought after GT3 league on iRacing that typically follows the GT Sprint/Endurance official series schedule. They have been going since January 2022 and host their 90-minute races on Wednesdays. This week though, a different kind of event to raise money for charity in remembrance of a fallen friend is on the schedule.
Peter 'DroopieGamer' Jonkers was a stalwart of the RPM community since the series began and competed in 93 races. He achieved four podiums, including a memorable win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at the end of the fourth season.
In his memory, RPM are hosting a 90 minute race around Spa that will be broadcast on Twitch, and is open to the first 60 people who sign up and as of writing this article, there are still a few slots available. To join the Discord server and be part of this event, head to the JustGiving page set up by RPM co-founder and admin Paul Kerry.
Proceeds for the event will be donated to Worldwide Cancer Research, with the initial target set up at £700. Sign up with whichever GT3 car you desire, with practice starting at 18:30 UTC and the race itself getting underway on 20:00 UTC on 18 December.
