One of the most recognizable GT cars from the early 2000s is now available for Assett Corsa: The Ferrari 360 GT makes its debut as a community creation.

Mod creator, 3dgas.uy, has brought one of the most attractive N-GT class cars to Assetto Corsa with his Ferrari 360 GT. The car handles spectacularly and looks the part as well. Early 2000's GT racing in Assetto Corsa is back - memories of GTR2 included.

The History Of The Ferrari 360 GT

The Ferrari 360 GT is the race version of the 360 Modena road car built to compete in the FIA N-GT class - the tier below the GT1 class that saw cars like the Chrysler Viper GTS-R or Saleen S7R in action.
Team JMB Giesse raced the cars during the 2001 FIA GT Championship season and won the N-GT Cup for Drivers and Teams that year, for instance.

The car continued to be successful with drivers and team titles coming in from all over the world, however, the Porsche 911 of the same class was by far the dominant force when it came down to FIA N-GT class titles. The 911 took the crown in the years 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2004.

From the years 2002 to 2004, Ferrari produced and sold 20 360 GTs to customers through their Corse Clienti department. These cars would compete internationally in FIA-sanctioned GT championships as well as private collections and track toys for the rich.

The 3.6-litre V8 engine was tuned to generate a power output of 430 horsepower which was a significant improvement over the more common 360 Challenge cars of the same era.

The Ferrari 360 GT In Assetto Corsa

The 360 GT is not a new car to the community, there is a paid version of the car that has been available for some time. However, this is the first free mod of the car available for the wider public within Assetto Corsa that is of such a high standard.

The car handles much like you would imagine a high-powered supercar with basic aero would do. It seemingly has unlimited grip until you ask too much of the tyres and you have to react very quickly to have any chance of saving a spin.

The best grid to race with is a full field of the 360s. Door-to-door racing with other colourful Ferraris never gets old. However, if you did want to put a bit of manufacturer variety into the pack then any GT car from the lower classes from the 90s and early 2000s will give the 360 a bit of competition.

Race Sim Studio vs 3dgas.uy

The Race Sim Studio version of the Ferrari 360 is approaching its fifth birthday. It still is a great option for those who want to recreate the N-GT era with the Porsche 996 also included in the pack price, however, the car is far from perfect. The tyres feel like you are driving on ice even when they are up to temperature. After ten laps of Donington Park, I still had no confidence in the car.

Where the free version shines is the overall driving experience. The car is tamable with a gentle right foot and the oversteer is catchable, unlike the RSS version. The soundtrack needs some work, but overall the 3dgas.uy version is much more beginner-friendly and is easier to get used to.

An other nice and educational article on some great looking cars, well like from both Ferrari fans and sports car enthusiast.
I have had the privilege to drive a few recent mods in AC in VR where the modder had paid particular attention to accurate and detailed driver animation with all the movement fluid and accurate. Some mouvement I had never seen before, like sliding a side window open and shut. In VR, with open composite driving my G2, AC delivers the highest quality VR I have ever experienced, couple that with accurate, realistic driver anaimation, makes AC, with the fantastic support from the modding community, a better 2024 title than any other title I also enjoy.
Racing those Ferrari’s on period accurate tracks is a never ending source of entertainment to this VR SIM racer.

Awesome alternative. I say this very.... Cautiously?... Ive never really liked the RSS cars.

Drives well and sounds great, thanks. I don't seem to have any digits on the digital dash and am getting heavy road reflections around the inside of the cockpit...anyone else have this?

Im going to ask something a bit off topic but... Is there a standar street version for the game? It still remains my favorite "modern" ferrari

Nice car that! Had some laps round road Atlanta. Can get the back end out and control the tail nicely,

Hi, I really appreciate your feedback, and yes, as a noob in AC modding the driver rig and animation has been a total brain-damage for me. As a Blender user, still can't figure out how to export accurrate driver animations, hands seem to be ok in my latest tests, but neither do feet. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the ride!!!

Chris, I missed the font folder in the package. You can find the files in my Discord channel. I promise to reupload here soon, sorry.

Thanks but I think it was a problem my end as I had deleted some AC fonts by mistake...It works OK as it is! Maybe someone could help with the internal road reflections...

RSS Ferruccio 36 vs. this... RSS feels pretty much like what i'd expect the real car to feel like, a grippy sportscar. Just don't brake too deep, and definitely don't lift mid corner or it will kill you. This feels like a super grippy easy to drive modern car(with weirdly strong FFB) that happens to look like a 360. Both are valid. I prefer the RSS car.
