Nacon Announces Revosim Department, New Direct Drive Wheel

French publisher and hardware manufacturer Nacon has announced a new racing department called Revosim at Bigben Week 2024 - as well as a new Direct Drive racing wheel.

SIm racers likely know Nacon best for their years of WRC games, but the French company also produces gaming peripherals like headsets and controllers. Now, it looks like the company is getting much more serious about its sim racing efforts.

As part of Bigben Week 2024, Nacon announced the formation of its new racing department called Revosim. According to their announcement, "this represents a natural step in the evolution of the company's expertise." Subsidiaries of the company include Kylotonn (who are behind Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown as KT Racing) and RaceWard Studio (TT Isle of Man series, RiMS Racing).

Revosim looks set to be a new hardware brand first and foremost, with a new Direct Drive racing wheel having been announced at the event. The wheel base will supposedly come with a GT steering wheel and a load cell pedal set, with more hardware for the Revosim range to be developed soon. A mobile companion app is also in development, according to the release.

More details about the upcoming hardware are expected 'soon'. Nacon describes Revosim as a premium brand, with the wheel representing "a technological concentration of reactivity, precision and quality."

I keep thinking about replacing my four year old G29, but using parts that allow me to swap wheels, and making my own "button boxes", means that it's become a lot more flexible and I shall stick with it until it breaks.
( BTW: I have already upgraded the pedals )
I'm a bit of a hoarder so would keep hold of it if I got a replacement... just in case :)

Agreed, nice to have choice but how sustainable is it? It’s not like people buy a new one every few months.
That is indeed the question.

Some competition in a market segment is good as it keeps the manufacturers on there toes and they will strive to offer the best quality product for a reasonable price.

Too much competition, however, leads to a race to the bottom, whereby the quality far more often than not ends up seriously compromised in order to produce the cheapest product.

This ultimately ends up negatively affecting those who can least afford the equipment - the idea of a DD wheelbase and wheel for, say $150, would tempt so many people to buy into it. However, to produce such a product that could be sold at that price would require such cut throat cost saving measures in production that these people would probably end buying a box of utter unreliable crap.

Hopefully their wheels "work as intended" better than the throttle model in WRC Generations.

There is an another game in the works at KT Racing, Endurance Motorsport Series. It already has a steam page and a teaser video.

If all these companies start to drive the prices down, then the more the merrier.

I would take Nacon up on a Daija. It may not be perfect, but it's not the worst fighting stick out there. The thing is, I don't need one. My old as salt Madcatz SFIV arcade stick still works and also has been updated with Sanwa buttons and a JLF stick. I wouldn't gain much in getting a new stick.

Concerning sim wheels, their product better be very compelling. They actually have stiff competition at all levels of the market. If what they make is getting eaten alive by TurtleBeach's wheel, then they ought to quit now.

The DD marketplace is getting a little too crowded these days, if you want my opinion.
It is very good. This indicates the growth of the market, its profitability and prospects. It is ok. After a while, many of them will close or merge into one company, and we won't even remember most of them, but now this stage of rapid market growth. Remember how many game consoles there were in the heyday and how many are left now.
