MAK-Corp F1 2008 V1 mod released by Cimmerian_Iter
Gentleman, a short view back to the past, in 2010 Mak Corp, known for their 2007 mod in rfactor were developing a new 2008 mod, showcasing it on rfactor2. Unfortunately, this mod was never completed and never released...... Until today ! @Shanakar reached out to me and gave me the opportunity to finish their work and bring it to Assetto Corsa.
Features :
- ALL 11 teams, this is a full season mod, you have everything in one single package
- Realistic physics, all cars have different physics to replicate the 2008 season, the car are challenging but fun to drive with realistic lap times
- Different tyre choice! You can select soft, hard, inters, wet and even the green fuji tyres or the end of season slick tyres
- Different liveries, you like the Redbull wings for life skin? You love the glossy dark red of the F2008? You actually remember that Super Aguri had a white livery for the spanish GP? you have them all ! For SKIN MAKERS ! You have each car aerokit changes kn5 to create custom preview. Swap out the base kn5 with the alternate kn5 and you can generate preview for sharkfin version and other aero upgrade.
- Different Aerokit upgrade for each cars, sharkfin and not, the Mclaren butterfly nose wing, the honda and mclaren side wings (you can toggle them in the pitstop menu under details tab), the BMW Canada spec, you can enjoy all the different aero look of each car through the 2008 season by selecting the one you want in the skin menu
- Realistic sound engines, the sound was a huge part of the mod and proper care has been taken to ensure that the auditive experience is the best possible to enjoy that V8
- Different helmets, replicating the real life counterpart, each driver has a helmet that reflect real life
- Dynamic Display, steering wheel display now shows useful information like delta gap, brake bias, pit animation, and more. YOU NEED RARE FOR THIS TO WORK. You can also bind extraD and extraE key in settings -> control, so that in game you switch between different display mode (fuel, delta, engine and oil temp)
INSTALLATION :
For the love of god DO NOT USE CONTENT MANAGER TO INSTALL
I beg you to manually extract the content of the .7z to your assettocorsa folder, for each post I see about tyres not working a kitten dies. And I also beg you to have CSP enabled.
And if you had a previous 2008 mod installed, please completely remove it before installing this one.
FAQ :
- IS THAT GLOCK? No it isn't
- Help my tyres look chrome! *sigh* font 20 told you to install the mod manually, so that both content and extension folder goes into assettocorsa folder, draging and dropping in content manager won't put the files in the correct location
- How can I add honda cockpit fin or remove Mclaren cockpit fin? In the pitstop menu, go to the all right tab named extra or detail idk, and you press the + button to enable or not the cockpit fin
- Cars pit after 2 lap, known issue, for know I don't know why, will investigate this later. But it seems that using real life value for fuel consumption is not to Assetto liking, assetto seems to pretend that a F1 car consume 1.5liters per 100km
- The steering wheel display does not work, you need to have RARE installed, and injected in your game session. Make sure RARE is running. If you still don't know why it doesn't work, then open the Lua debugger app and post in the discussion thread the logs
To get the FULL 2008 Experience, I highly recommend you to also download these two mods, which add 2008 leaderboard and also 2008 track skins made by @Apocalypse2112
Credits :
First I want to thank the original MAK-Corp team, the work they have done is top notch and it's been a pleasure working on this, mainly Petros Mak for directing the project, and allowing me to continue on their work, Raymond Schram for the Mclaren, Renault, Honda and BMW Sauber, Koen Calleyl for the Ferrari, Red Bull/Toro Rosso, Toyota, Williams and Force India, and all of those I forgot to mention but who worked under MAK-Corp
This mod wouldn't be possible without the help of these people neither :
- Long, for the great job he has done on the physics
- @Qudans98, for the awesome sound engines he provided me
- Benjamin00, for helping me fix the uvmap of the BMW steering wheel
- @PF126p , for creating the tyre textures I'm using
- Adrjen, for the original 3D tyre model that I modified
- @Denny370 For helping me figuring out the cockpit fins toggle in pit stop, for doing the honda and mclaren cockpit fin and the mclaren butterfly.
- TheRaceProject for doing the remaining skins the original project didn't provide
- MRHD, for doing the cameras
- AgenOrang? for testing how the car looks in game and sending me pictures
- D3rza for the scriptable display introduced on 1.5, based on @VRC - Schmawlik framework
1 the previous mod was made for enjoyment, i was driving on a controller so yeah physics had to be enjoyable both on controller and wheel. Now I have a full simracing setup, and the physics needs to be more realistic and challenging. If you prefer the old mod I think you should keep it. Or if you have enough knowledge you can do a physic swap. Also the previous mod and this one are two totally different thing.
As for the car display you need RARE for it to work, but in the next update I will remove the need of having RARE. But the cockpit view you can see the helmet glass and I forgot to whitelist it from fps. Will fix that
